Expert Proteomics

Tobias provides scientific and technical expertise in all areas of bottom-up proteomics. This includes label-free screening workflows in data-dependent (DDA) and data-independent analysis (DIA) mode, chemical (TMT) and metabolic labelling (SILAC, NeuCode), as well as targeted quantification strategies (SRM, PRM).

At the FGCZ he is mainly involved in the support of user lab projects and development/maintenance of our research infrastructure. Currently, his “special” project is making trapped ion mobility spectrometry (TIMS) available to the local research community. In addition, he teams up with our proteome informatics group for software development projects[external page 1] related to proteomics data analysis, or conducts internal methodological research projects[external page 2].

His scientific education started at the University of Freiburg i. Br. where he obtained his Diploma in Biology and Informatics. Afterwards the joined ETHZ to earn his PhD in the field of Epigenetics. Being fascinated by the rapidly developing field of proteomics he subsequently joined a research project between ETHZ and Novartis focused on protease substrate deconvolution using mass spectrometry. Finally, in 2017 he became a full-time employee at FGCZ.
