9th Workshop Microarrays: Basics, Production and Processing
The Functional Genomics Center has more than 20 years of experience in preparation and processing of microarrays. In collaboration with external page GeSiM (Dresden), we offer a workshop on the basics, production and processing of microarrays.
The secret of microarray technology lays in the understanding of surface chemistry and effects of molecules of biological interest (proteins, polypeptides, antibodies, DNA/ RNA, carbohydrates, lipopolysaccharides, teichoic acids, peptidoglycans, small molecules) applied to the surface, and their interaction with binders in an environment that is very different to bulk solution.
This two-day workshop addresses all issues from surface chemistry, interactions of the spotted probe with the surface environment and analytes, to binding kinetics. We demonstrate, by means of an experimental workflow, the planning of microarray construction with samples for which no protocols are available, and how to find the root cause for difficulties when processing a microarray. The workshop includes practical demonstration of a microarray experiment including spotting, processing and read-out of slides.
The workshop will be held at the FGCZ (Y59 at campus Irchel) on:
October, 22nd/23rd, based on demand.
