Biophysics

The Biophysics unit offers unique methods and technologies to study the physical interaction of biomolecules with a focus on customization and data quality. By tailoring experimental design and analytical approaches, the unit complements and solidifies findings and data of the larger omics-based methods. We offer to conduct projects in user lab mode and as a service.

Technology Scouting

We're always seeking cutting-edge technologies to add to our portfolio. Over the last 10 years, we tested and assessed new technologies and instruments including

* Biolayer interferometry (BLI, "Octet", Sartorius, Göttingen, 2014)
* switchSENSE (Dynamic Biosensors, Munich, 2018)
* Mass photometry ("Refeyn1", Cambridge, 2021)
* Grating-coupled interferometry (GCI, "Wave", Creoptix, Wädenswil 2015/ 2021)
* Flow-induced dispersion analysis (FIDA, "Fida1", Fida Bio, Copenhagen, 2023)
* Microarray systems ("bScreen", Biametrics, Tübingen, 2015; "PamStation", PamGene, s`Hertogenbosch, 2019) and spotting devices ("Nanoplotter", GeSiM, Dresden, 2023)
* Microscale Thermophoresis ("Monolith", Nanotemper, Munich, 2023)
* Protein analytics ("Panta", Nanotemper, Munich, 2023)
* SPR instruments ("S200", Cytiva, 2021; "4SPR", Reichert, Buffalo NY, 2021; "MASS-1", Sierra Sensors/ Bruker, Hamburg, 2014)
