The metabolomics unit has revamped its service portfolio since January 2023 to meet the diverse and emerging user needs while enabling accessibility to cutting edge technologies. The upgraded portfolio covers a wide range of chemical classes, biochemical pathways, and thereby metabolic research questions. That ranges from structural elucidation of a single compound to comprehensive metabolomics and lipidomics profiling of biofluids, tissues and cells. Our workflows will address your needs that require absolute quantification of specific metabolites or comparting relative abundance on the metabolome or lipidome level. Moreover, we are constantly evolving with our user needs and stay at the frontier of metabolomics or lipidomics technologies.

-Untargeted metabolomics aims at the detection and relative quantification of polar and charged metabolites and related chemical classes.

-This covers metabolites involved in glycolysis, TCA, amino acid metabolism , nucleotide metabolism and related pathways.

-The workflow addresses questions related to energy metabolism, mitochondrial metabolism, oxidative stress among diverse metabolism related research questions.

- Untargeted Lipidomics aims at the detection and relative quantification of membrane (structural) lipids.

- This covers phospholipids, sphingolipids, glycerolipids and cholesterol esters to report on remodelling of memrbane or storage lipids

- The workflow covers free fatty acids and acyl carnitines as well to report on fatty acid synthesis and oxidation

- The targeted workflow is more suited where absolute quantificaiton ( e.g pmoles/ml) is required of pre-defined subset of metabolites or lipids.

- Our current targeted LC-MS portfolio covers short chain fatty acids, bile acids, modified nucleotides, some bioactive lipids such as retinoic acid and some drugs.

- For selected projects, method development can be performed

- FDA guidelines for bioanalytical method validation are followed to ensure the highest standards of analytical robustness and confidence in both identification and quantification.
