The Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) is a joint state-of-the-art research and training facility of the ETH Zürich and the University of Zurich. With latest technologies and expert support for Omics research, the FGCZ carries out research projects and technology development in collaboration with the Zurich Life Science research community.

The Board

The Board is the supervising committee and its responsibilities include the approval of the strategy and budget of the FGCZ. The Board consists of the Vice President for Research of the ETH Zurich and the Vice President for Medicine and Sciences of the University of Zurich.

The FGCZ Steering Committee (SC)

The Strategy Committee represents all existing and new FGCZ-related research areas, technologies and support modes. Duties of the FGCZ Strategy Committee include but are not limited to:

Prioritization of research areas considering available resources and community demand
Definition of FGCZ support portfolio of methods, applications and technologies
Strategic investment requests to ETH and UZH

The Operational Steering Committee (OSC):

Two members of the Strategy Committee are designated for the FGCZ Steering Committee that together with the FGCZ Director supports and oversees the operational management of the FGCZ.

The FGCZ Management

The director is responsible for the operation of the FGCZ. Furthermore, he scientifically coordinates FGCZ activities with local and other research groups and is responsible for the management of the core platform and staff, the purchase of equipment, implementation of policies, and the organization of interactions between ETH and University of Zurich, with other academic institutions and industrial partners.
