Group Leader Metabolomics

Alaa joined the FGCZ in January 2023 as the head of metabolomics unit. Originally trained as a medical doctor, his passion for research led him to pursue a PhD in systems biology of complex diseases where he fell in love with mass spectrometry and its application. He brings more than a decade experience in metabolomics and lipidomics technology development with successful implementation in clinical, basic academic research and industrial applications. That covers the whole spectrum from project design, sample preparation, automation, LC/MS to data analysis. He also brings rich experience in building cost-effective and efficient service workflows in academic and business environments. At the FGCZ, he is leading the metabolomics team to support all projects where metabolomics and lipidomics can add value and ultimately provide impact for our customers and users.
